My wife and daughter hosted a lovely wedding shower for my niece today. They worked so hard to produce a memorable event - and we got lucky with a beautiful, sunny afternoon the twenty guests to sit outside and enjoy the weather. So nice to have a few hours of family and pleasant distraction.
Years ago a friend advised me: Take care of yourself. Get a massage regularly. For years I ignored this advice. Eventually though, I bought in to the idea, and now it’s a non-negotiable part of my life. Every two weeks I get a deep tissue massage. There’s no going back now!
Seems like this is where we’re at.
April showers bring… street floods. Extreme weather, but I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about.
Q12026 comes to an end - but more importantly, we’ve got baseball as a beautiful distraction.
Waxing Gibbous. The full moon approaches.
Signs of spring in the yard, signs of hope in the country as “No Kings III” tops 9 million protesters according to some estimates. What’s the saying? Hope springs eternal.

Breached the $4 barrier and can’t imagine it coming down anytime soon. Within weeks, we’ll feel the impact in almost everything else we buy. We have only just begin to see the damage this ill-conceived war will cause. Better buckle up for the next few years.
Terrific James McMurtry concert at the Avalon Theater last night. He has to be one of America’s most literate (and political) songwriters. A great show.
Pieces of my life spread out before me.
Tonight a community group hosted one of their on-going “Conversations on Race” at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum - which is now hosting a Frederick Douglas exhibit - Bear Me Into Freedom. The exhibit provided important context for the discussion - and a reminder how entrenched racism remains.
A rite of spring: the umbrellas go up.
Lovely overnight in DC at the Monaco, a visit to the National Portrait Gallery, and lunch with friends we hadn’t seen in a while. And nice weather too! All you can ask for.

Happy Birthday Julien. Wonderful DC dinner at Filomena.
Q. Are we not men? A. We are Devo!
I am acutely aware of time passing quickly - mid-March already. The days and weeks fly by, each one an opportunity never to come again. I especially feel the need to focus on priorities - and exercise the power of “no” for anything outside my priorities.
Nothing quite like a small town St. Patrick’s Day parade. Erin go bragh!

After about 24 hours of increasingly dire weather forecasts - tornadoes, 75-mile per hour winds, torrential rain - the storm seems to have passed with little to no impact. I suppose it’s a metaphor for life - we worry and anticipate the worst… and sometimes the storm just passes us by. Grateful.
Enjoying a very quiet Sunday after a busy week. Glad for the opportunity to rest, recharge, and refocus.
‘Tis the season for Girl Scout cookies, and who can resist… but my sales-scout was all out of Thin Mints. Hard times.
